Using "U" channel to secure a fixed panel
or a bath screen is one of the simplest and best ways. The edges
of the glass is ground & polished into a straight line. The
"U" channel is installed so that it conforms to the shape
of the wall. When the glass is received by the "U" channel
the curve in the wall is hidden. The "U" channel also
adds additional adjustment flexibility in setting the door gaps.
Verify & Layout: The first step in a install
is to layout the unit, and verify sizes of each panel. If you don't
have the original marks on the tile from the measure, you should
layout the unit verifying the measurements and put small marks on
the tile indicating the centerline of the glass.
Cutting the "U" Channel: The "U"
channel can be cut using a circular saw with a carbide blade, or
with a hack saw. The "U" is shipped cut to the approximate
lengths needed for each install. Trim the "U" channel
pieces so that they fit the spaces. Sand or file the ends to remove
any saw marks.
Drilling Holes: The kit is shipped with #8
x 1 1/2" counter sunk stainless steel screws. It is important
that when installed that the head of the screws are flush with the
inside surface of the "U" channel.
Install the Glass: The glass sizes were adjusted to
for the thickness of the "U" channel and the 1/8"
setting block. Place setting blocks about 1" in from each end
of the bottom "U" channel. Double check that the "U"
channel is clean of any foreign material, no screw heads sticking
up and the setting block are placed correctly.

Following the basic handling for tampered glass place the
panel into the bottom "U" channel making sure
you are putting it on the setting blocks. Carefully slide
the panel into the "U" channel on the wall. If
the panel is next to the door opening you want to adjust
the panel so that when it is installed the door opening
is equal to the door opening width "W" for your
shower door kit. Measure at the bottom and at the top of
the door opening. If necessary remove the fixed panel and
change the setting block sizes the get the panel to stand
with the correct "W" at the bottom and top.
